"Hey, that looks old!!"

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday...  great days to be a tourist in Rome, right?  Not like you would expect it to be crowded or anything...  In truth it actually wasn't that bad.  In fact, I even got to see the pope!

See him in the middle?
The best view I could get of the pope. And it took me 15 minutes to get that far!

In case you didn't believe me the first time...
Here's a closeup of the same picture, a little easier to see him now

The biggest church in the world in volume.
Katie and Jen outside St. Peter's

Hey, that looks REALLY old!!
Jen and me being goofy in front of the Roman Forum

Lots of tourists staring at lots of rocks.
The Roman Forum. See, just a bunch of REALLY old stuff that's mostly fallen over

It's surreal to actually SEE this stuff
The Colosseum

A nice break from the breakneck-speed vacation
A pretty scene from the picturesque Palatin

Lots of fountains in Rome, too
The fountain at the center of Piazza Navona

Somehow the picture doesn't inspire the same awe
The inside of St. Peter's (The Vatican)

Where's Russell Crowe when you need him?
Me, Katie, and Jen at the Colosseum

Yay for ice cream!
Katie and Jen with GELATI!!

Not too exciting, but also REALLY old
The Pantheon

THIS is why this is a cool building
Looking up in the Pantheon

Time for a time out!
The Temple di Esculapio. Just really pretty

Still pretty impressive though
Inside the Vatican Museum. One of the many rooms they wound you through before the Sistene Chapel

You know, really that could be ANY building...
The Sistene Chapel from the outside. Of course, that kinda misses the point, but oh well

And I thought Geos were death traps...
Jen and her car. Yes, that is a car. They do actually drive on the road.

All roads lead to Rome...
Jen and me in front of the Trevi fountains

"What'd he do to get buried with two kings?" -Dad
The painter Raphael, who is buried in the Pantheon

Dunno really why this is so great at all
The Spanish Steps

I just don't get it
An obelisk. Every time there was something important, there was an obelisk. I don't know why.

Back to Florence       On to Milan!
