On Friday, March 14, 2003, a group of nine AJY Summer students took advantage of a day off and made the two-hour trek to Strassburg, France.  Useful on this trip were what we found to be the only REALLY essential words in French (and any language, for that matter): bonjour (hello), au revior (goodbye), s'il vous plaît (please), and merci (thank you).  With only those four phrases, we managed to get by ok.

Normal cost, ,80 EUR. Students: ,60 EUR :D
The Astronomical Clock

Without illumination, it's too dark to see well
What bugs me about this church is for only ,20 EUR, you can illuminate the art so you can see it.

Poor Greg got height anxiety and didn't make it!
Atop the Notre Dame Cathedral in Strassburg. 330 steps, and it was FREEZING!

The clock reads 12:15 and 11:45 for 2 time zones
A closeup of the little cherubs and the clock face.

How did they make this thing? It rocks!
A closeup of the glockenspiel part of the clock. Notice the rooster to the upper left.

The whole thing is covered in sculptures
In front of the main door of the church. You just can't fit this stuff in a picture.

This is where we sat and had a cup of coffee

Hey Levs, like the light? This one's for you :)
