Muenchen is known by the uninitiated as Munich.  Munich is located in the Bundesland of Bayern and is famous for its Glockenspiel, the green Isen River, and its Hofbraeuhaus.  11 of us made the trek there from Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30, 2003.  We spent lots of money, walked lots of miles, and, uh... had a swell time!

Friday

I still can't understand the two towers
The Frauenkirche

Apparently Satan wore Keds
Inside the Frauenkirche; you can see "Satan's footprint" at the bottom center

Es steht in Muenchen ein Hofbraeuhaus...
Ah yes, the Hofbraeuhaus, a famous tourist stop

Ein Mass, bitte!
Scott, Doug, and Niko, being typical tourists

Sunday

Yet another palace of incredible wealth
Residenz Muenchen, home of the Herzog in Munich in years past

This thing is much bigger than it looks
A really impressive and elaborately decorated hall of important rich people who are all long dead

All my kingdom for a hammer....
Lots and lots of China plates

I wonder if he had an ego... just maybe...
Where the really rich guy sat and granted audience to people who had waited in two similar red rooms

and the chandeliers! I want a chandelier!
I just thought this room was really gorgeous, portraits all over the left wall, windows on the right

A waste of plastic, or art? You be the judge...
A sculpture in the modern art museum

A painting in the museum of modern art entitled "Die Verkreuzigung" (the Crucifixion)

Saturday was Castle Neuschwanstein.  It is dedicated its own page here.
